5 Things To Do In Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Now that the world is slowly opening back up again, it’s time to start putting together some travel lists. Here are a few reasons why Puerto Vallarta, Mexico should be included!

1. Explore Downtown Puerto Vallarta

Grab a cab and head downtown to explore The Malacón! The Malacón stretches down 12 blocks along the water’s edge and is full of nightlife, restaurants and more. Spend time meandering through little shops, art galleries, or grab a drink at one of the local spots. There are also quite a few nightlife options if you’re looking for a night of dancing and drinking! You can also catch a firework display two times a night – there’s a pirate themed dinner cruise that sets them off at night! Take a stroll and stay to watch the beautiful display.

2. Check Out The Local Restaurants

Puerto Vallarta is full of delicious and unique local eateries. Both New and Old Vallarta has numerous places to pick from! Here are a few of my family’s favorites:
Panorama Restaurant (This is one of our all-time favorites! This is a must!)
The Blue Shrimp
Las Palapas
La Dolce Vita
Hacienda Angel
Pipi’s
Los Helechos
(in Bucerías)

3. Try Ziplining

So ziplining has become quite the thing over the past few years, so there are lots of places to pick from. I have to admit, we’ve gone to multiple different companies, but I always recommend the same one: Los Veranos. The zipline course is amazing and the staff is SO FUN! They honestly make the entire trip a blast. Plus, there are water slides, a small zoo, a yummy restaurant and a tequila tasting afterward! You could spend the entire day here and never run out of things to do.

If you’ve never been ziplining, I would say this is a must for those adventurous enough. Lost Veranos has 15 different zip lines that go through the jungle and over the river. The views are incredible! Plus, if you’re daring, you can go upside down, backwards, you name it!

4. Visit Los Arcos Marine Park

If you want to snorkel and see some beautiful fish, then take a trip to Lost Arcos Marine Park. You’ll be able to swim, snorkel and dive at this park. See beautiful reefs teeming with all different kinds of sea creatures like: angelfish, puffer fish, octopus, lobster, Eagle Rays, clownfish and much more! Explore under the sea and remember to be kind to the wildlife!

5. Visit Sayulita

Sayulita is another must-see for me. Make sure you plan to spend the whole day, because it’s quite the drive depending where you’re coming from. Sayulita started as a fishing town and has quickly gained popularity amongst tourists and surfers. In fact, if you have ever wanted to try surfing, check out Patty’s Surf Lessons. I’ve tried my hand at surfing a few times (haha) and the instructors are always great! While you’re there, grab a seat at Captain Pablos and order some lunch. You can do no wrong here, everything is delicious! My family and I like to order guacamole and a bucket of beers to start.

Make sure you also take a stroll down the beautiful cobblestone streets. There are so many local shops and galleries to see! The local talent is absolutely incredible!

Have you visited Puerto Vallarta before? Or will you be adding it to your bucket list?
