Rare Beauty Review

Selena Gomez recently released her new beauty line called “Rare Beauty” – containing 17 products in total. Selena has promised to raise and donate $100 million over the next 10 years to go towards mental health services for underserved communities through her Rare Impact Fund. Plus, her marketing has been very natural with her highlighting everyday people. Love that!

So let me break it down…

Weightless FoundationColor: 190W – Now I’ll be the first to admit, I don’t wear foundation. When I do need some coverage, I’ll wear tinted moisturizer, but I’ve never loved actual foundation. I think it’s because of my freckles… when I wear foundation, it covers them up, or mutes them, and it just looks fake to me. I may not be the best judge for this, but I have to say I didn’t loveeee it. Once I properly put it on, (dampen that beauty blender ladies!) it was a lot better. But it still seemed to sit on top of my skin. I’ve seen so many reviews that say it’s amazing and some reviews that hate it. I did not love nor hate, but I did want to return! If you’re a pro with foundation, I’d say check it out and see what you think!

Liquid BlushColor: Joy – I’m a huge fan of liquid blushes/stains, so I was excited to try this gal out. Be warned, SHE’S PIGMENTED. (Yes, that deserves all caps and bold.) A little (literally a tiny dot) goes a long way. The color Joy is a pretty terra cotta/peach and something I’ll wear into fall. I originally wanted to try something darker, but since it’s so pigmented, I got a little nervous. Depending on the color, they also come in radiant or matte finish. I’ll probably be trying another color down the road! I’ll be keeping this one!

Lip Soufflé Matte Lipstick Color: Strengthen – The texture/formula for this gal is unique… think mousse-like? It’s hard to describe… it’s light and airy, but not a liquid. Definitely interesting and easy to put on! Strengthen looks dark in the bottle, but turned out to be a pretty berry color. I ended up doing two coats to make it a little darker, so this is definitely buildable. Not sure about how much it transfers… I’ll have to wear for a full day and see how it goes. I’ll be keeping this one!

There are definitely a few other products I want to try out, just need to space it out a bit haha. Would love to try out the Highlighter, the Illuminating Primer, and the Dewy Lip Balm.

Are we loving the new line? Have you tried it yet? Do we feel like celebrity lines are too hyped up? Would love to hear your thoughts below!

xoxo,
Katelynn Ann

Haven’t tried her line yet, but I’m so into liquid blush for the fall and winter. Definitely need to check it out!
