36 Hours In NH

I enjoy the city, but there are some times where I just NEED to escape.

When I’m cooped up inside the city for weeks on end, I start to feel restless and start planning my next trip. My boyfriend and I recently had some friends move up to New Hampshire and we thought that Fall would be the perfect time for a visit! Neither of us have ever been to New Hampshire, so we were eager to do some exploring.

We arrived late Friday night and were pretty useless after a full day of work and a 5 + hour drive (ugh, traffic, am I right?). After a tour of their apartment, we instantly crashed. This allowed us to wake up fresh and ready to go Saturday morning though!

We started off Saturday a little lazy since it was raining. We walked to the shop below their apartment and got coffee from the cutest little shop called Flight. It was a cute local coffee shop that served a delicious hot chai and mouth watering pastries. They also have open mic night, which we will have to check out on a future visit!

After grabbing coffee, our hosts made us a nice breakfast with mimosas. Such a great way to start off the weekend!

On the agenda that day was to visit Portsmouth. I had been hearing so many great things about the town from my friend. She works downtown and is always telling me about the different shops and local events. We were able to walk around, shop at the local stores and grab some dinner. She was right, Portsmouth is a picturesque town with lots of character.

A couple standout stores we visited were:

Market Square Jewelers

This is where my friend works and they have all sorts of vintage jewelry. It was so fun being able to go in and try on all the different pieces. I even tried on a $30,000 ring! It was beautiful and was a little heartbreaking to part with. They also have an amazingly beautiful website in case you aren’t able to visit their brick and mortar stores. Link here!

Moonshine

This boutique had a lot of fun items. It ranged from jewelry and purses to stationary and pens. I bought a few squirrel pens here as a fun gift for some of my sorority sisters.

Gus & Ruby Letterpress

If you are looking for stationary, cards, calendars or basically anything paper related, this is the place to go! It has lots of Rifle Paper Co. products, which always makes my heart happy!

LIT Boutique

This boutique sells trendier clothing/accessories and has lots to choose from! Very cute items at a decent price point. If you’re looking for something more fashionable, I would definitely recommend trying this store!

Off Piste

Looking for a witty gag gift? This is definitely the place to go! There were so many fun glasses, cards, games, etc. This store pretty much has anything you can think of with a witty saying on it!

Cup O’Joe

Another delicious coffee shop. We stopped inside to warm up a bit after the sun started to go down. This place is also adorable. I’m a huge sucker for solid interior decorating. I also have to say that this was one of the best chai lattes I’ve had in awhile – definitely recommend going!

Poco’s Bow Street Cantina

This is where we stopped to have dinner for the night. It’s a Mexican restaurant with a view of the Piscatuqua River. We watched the sun set over the marina – so beautiful! The views were great and the food was pretty standard for a Mexican Cantina. I would recommend getting a pitcher of Sangria to share – it was delicious!

In between playing tourist, we of course had to stop and take a few photos. I couldn’t help it! The town was so charming and golden hour lit up the streets just right.

Sunday started off with Brunch at Chapel + Main – you guys, it. was. so. delicious. I got the apple stuffed french toast and it was perfect! Not only was it delectable, but it was so timely for Fall. And it was the perfect preface for our activity for the day – you guessed it! Apple Picking!

After Brunch, we hopped in the car and headed to Applecrest Farm in Exeter. Now I have been to my fair share of apple orchards, but this one was something else. Not only were there rows and rows of apple trees, but the farm also had a pumpkin patch, a creamery, beer/wine, a marketplace and the MOST delicious apple cider donuts I’ve had.

We had so much fun running up and down the orchards, trying to pick out the perfect apple. One thing if you go, make sure you listen carefully to the orchard worker at the beginning. They use ribbons to note which type of apple tree it is. To be honest, we weren’t really listening and completely missed this part. Make sure to pay attention if you don’t like certain types of apples! Overall, the farm was such a fun experience and the perfect way to end our visit!

Anddd to top everything off – we saw a gorgeous sunset driving home. This girl lovess a good sunset! Peep sunset below ↓

Since we had such a small amount of time, we weren’t able to see very much of New Hampshire. We definitely want to come back and explore more!

Please leave your recommendations on what we should see next in the comments!

Thanks for reading loves – keep exploring!

xoxo
